Business Profile: Phoebe Lee Continues: A Family Legacy

Phoebe Lee Continues: A Family Legacy

By Vernalee

After a 13 year hiatus, Phoebe Lee returned to Ohio to assume a role for which she had been groomed to pursue all of her life. The daughter of entrepreneurial parents, being her own boss doing something she loved (fashion) was a lifelong dream. A 2006 magna cum laude graduate of Clark Atlanta University with a degree in Business Management with a concentration in Supply Chain Management, Lee continued her studies at the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) in NYC and Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) in Atlanta.

Integrating her love for fashion and style with her business acumen, the ideal entrepreneurial endeavor combined Lee’s passion and her talents. As she was building a modeling career in New York City, Phoebe appeared on Good Morning America, The Today Show, NY Live, VH1, NYC PIX 11, and several other networks. She has also been a featured model for In Style Magazine. Lee simultaneously established her dream business by creating VDP Safety & Uniforms Ltd. (VDP). Satisfying a necessary component in the construction industry, VDP specializes in the supplying of safety vests, hard hats, gloves, and essential items that facilitate safety. Complementing her safety product line, VDP offers a full line of uniform apparel inclusive of security guard uniforms; tailored shirts, trousers, skirts; and company logo t-shirts. VDP, formed in 2013, is an EDGE/MBE/FBE/DBE firm certified by the State of Ohio DAS, NE Ohio Regional Sewer District, Ohio Turnpike Commission, and the Ohio Department of Transportation.  VDP is also DBE certified in Indiana, Texas, Florida, and California. Adding the distinguishing specialization to satisfy airport compliance, VDP has acquired Airport Concession Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (ACDBE) certificates in Indiana, Ohio, and California. Several other MBE municipal certifications round out the list.

As President and sole owner of VDP Safety & Uniforms Ltd., Phoebe Lee has acquired an impressive client list consisting of Republic Parking Systems, Franklin County, Cleveland Job Corps, among others.

Walking in the footsteps of her Mother, Vernalee, President of Lee Enterprises, a marketing/business development consulting firm, founder of The Candy Lady, and a published author, Phoebe started working in her family’s retail stores when she was 8 years old. “My Mother and Father cultivated entrepreneurism in my brother and me since infancy. I sold my friends candy at school. It was the only way of life that I knew,” said Lee.

VDP embarking on a continual legacy reflects family cohesiveness through the purposefully significance of its name. Bearing the initials of family members’ first names: VDP represents Very Determined People whose mission is to deliver quality products with impeccable customer service and experience. Phoebe is dedicated to make sure that this mission is VDP’s goal in all aspects of its delivery.

Phoebe also has owned and operated an on-line store, which specializes in fashion accessories. On the horizon, she is designing a special clothing line that will soon be added to VDP Safety & Uniforms product offerings.
