Reps. Howse, Miranda to host Equal Pay Day conversation with Ohio working women

Rep. Stephanie Howse (D-Cleveland)

Discussion to highlight worsening inequities during the pandemic

COLUMBUS—Reps. Stephanie Howse (D-Cleveland) and Jessica E. Miranda (D-Forest Park) will host a virtual discussion on Equal Pay Day, TOMORROW, March 24 from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. They will be joined by several Ohio working women, who will share their stories and contribute to the nationwide conversation on addressing pay equity for women. The event will be livestreamed on the Ohio House Dems Facebook page.

Reps. Howse and Miranda plan to reintroduce the Ohio Equal Pay Act, which would prohibit gag orders on employees, prohibit an employer from requesting information regarding a prospective employee’s pervious wage or salary history, require vendors who do business with the state to obtain an Equal Pay Certificate, and require government entities to evaluate their employees’ pay scales to ensure compensation based on skills, responsibilities and working conditions across job categories.
