2013 Micro Entrepreneur Award Recipients announced
Eight Central Ohio entrepreneurs received awards for their success and accomplishments at INCREASE CDC’s 9th Annual Micro Entrepreneur Award ceremony on May 23, 2013, sponsored in part by Commerce National Bank. Awards were presented to local small business owners who have operated a business for at least two years with five or fewer employees including the owner.
The 2013 award recipients are Tyrrea Byrd, owner of Cakes by Tyrrea (Community Choice Award); Shelby Frederick, owner of Healing Oasis Total Body Therapy, LLC (Health & Wellness Award); Roland C. Poindexter, CEO of RCP Metals, Inc. (Business-to-Business Award); Anthony Roberts, owner of Roberts Executive Services (Consumer
Services Award); Karen Dawson, Executive Director of LeaderSpark, Inc. (Non-Profit Award); Shellee Fisher, owner of Shellee Fisher Photography & Design (Media/Entertainment & Judge’s Choice Awards); Shanika Tyler, owner of FleurGirl, LLC (Retail Award); Sheryl Harris owner of Unique & Inspired Designs (INCREASE CDC Alumnus of the Year Award). The award recipients were selected based on business growth, professionalism and community involvement.
Also recognized at the event were 26 graduates of the INCREASE CDC business planning program. These aspiring entrepreneurs were honored for successfully completing a rigorous 10-week course, which helped them write a basic business plan. Tamela Walker, owner of Torlita’s, LLC, a company that makes sweet and salty snacks, delivered a rousing valedictorian message that encouraged the entrepreneurs in the audience to “keep pressing on.”
