Ohio and U.S. Employment Situation (Seasonally Adjusted)
Ohio’s unemployment rate was 7.2 percent in June 2013, up from 7.0 percent in May, according to data released this morning by the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services (ODJFS). Ohio’s nonfarm wage and salary employment decreased 12,500 over the month, from a revised 5,214,000 in May to 5,201,500 in June.
The number of workers unemployed in Ohio in May was 413,000, up from 8,000 from 405,000 in May. The number of unemployed has decreased by 5,000 in the past 12 months from 418,000. The June unemployment rate for Ohio was down from 7.3 percent in June 2012.
The U.S. unemployment rate for June was 7.6 percent, unchanged from the previous month and down from 8.2 percent in June 2012.
