The Law According to Moses: HUD Section 3: Business Opportunities for Low-Income Persons

The HUD Section 3 Program has been around a long time. It is part of the Housing and Urban Development Act of 1968.
HUD Section 3 requires that recipients of certain HUD financial assistance, to the greatest extent possible, provide job training, employment, and contract opportunities for low- or very-low income residents in connection with projects and activities in their neighborhoods.
If you live in government-assisted housing or if your household income falls below HUD’s income limits, you may qualify as a Section 3 resident or Section 3 business concern.
The Ohio Business Development Center (“OBDC”) is a nonprofit organization that has launched an initiative to promote the development of and increased utilization of HUD Section 3 business concerns in Ohio.
OBDC and the Ohio Certification Center will be offering certification classes and consulting to assist individuals and businesses with becoming certified as Section 3 business concerns.
