The Law According to Moses: Vote, D*mn It!

Vote.

The demographics of America are changing.  There is nothing new about that.  The “electorate” is defined as all the people in a country or area who are entitled to vote in an election.

The changing demographics of America are impacting the electorate.  The Rising American Electorate (RAE) consists of Unmarried Women, Youth (ages 18-29), African Americans, Latinos, and all other non-white races.  There are reports that the RAE now accounts for more than half of the voting eligible population in the United States (53.5%).

While the number of RAE voters turning out has increased in recent elections, they still do not vote in proportion to their share of the population.  Consider this.  In the coming November elections, it is estimated that 60 percent of Americans will not vote.  Worse, 70 to 80 percent of those hurting most economically, low and moderate income workers, will not be participating in the election.

Is there a problem?  Yes.

Is there a solution?  Yes.

Here are the steps to the solution:

1.  Register to vote.

2.  Vote.

3.  Encourage your family and friends to register to vote and to vote.

Yes, there are those who do not want you to participate in the process.  Forget them.

Get out there and take care of your business.  If you need a picture ID, get a picture ID.  If you don’t know where your voting location is, call the Board of Elections and find out.  If you moved, update your address with the Board of Elections.  If you can’t take off work, get an absentee ballot (and send it in).
Yes, we have some screwed up politics going on.  We can change that.  But, in order to do so, you and I must participate.  I can’t vote for you.  You can’t vote for me.  We both have to go to the polls and cast our respective votes.

We then must work on improving the quality of our elected representatives.  In the meantime . . .

Vote, Vote, Vote, Vote, Vote!
