Publisher’s Note: Is the current NAACP leadership in Columbus dirty, underhanded and low-down?

Tonight’s Columbus NAACP meeting to be held at the Linden Public Library, should show the true character of the present leadership of the Columbus branch: Dirty, underhanded and low-down. My question to them is WHY? There’s work to be done. The current leadership has lost the credibility and support of the Columbus residents. It is time for them to go. What efforts to empower the community can they stand on? As a member for the past two years, I have yet to be notified of a membership meeting or branch sponsored event. How are members to participate if we are not in the communication loop? Is there a calculated effort to not inform members? Got something to hide?
It is quite sad that the present leadership and election committee is performing unethically. How can the NAACP speak on voting rights or fight for voting irregularities, when they can’t conduct a proper and moral election? What is actually at stake here? Are egos more important than the work that needs to be done in the community? Are the secret deals more important than the children in the community? Is the disrespect of current members acceptable? The conduct of the current leadership of the Columbus NAACP is SHAMEFUL!
What’s going on? The following are allegations against the present leadership. The National NAACP has also been notified.
- Consent forms are required if you wish to be elected as an officer of the NAACP. This form must be signed by 3 members in good standing.
- Consent forms should be submitted once you are interviewed by members of the nominating committee. Please note that our slate were screened and we turned in the consent forms respectively to the nominating committee.
- The Agents for Change believe there will be a lot of discussion around our signed consent forms and they may be thrown out by the nominating committee. If there is controversy around our signed petitions The Agents for Change will have to be nominated from the floor at the October 20, 2014 meeting commencing at 7:00 p.m. at the Linden Library.
I respectfully support the slate of new leadership:
Agents for Change – A NEW NAACP team that will agitate, communicate, educate, organize and mobilize!
Nana Watson – President,
Asad Shabazz – Vice President,
Julialynne Walker – First Vice President,
Kirk D. Turns, Treasurer
Sharnee` Jennings – Secretary
Let’s do better Columbus!
