COLUMBUS— House Democratic Leader Emilia Strong Sykes (D-Akron) today announced the release of $1.2 million in state funds for renovations and replacements at the University of Akron main campus.
“I am happy to see the University of Akron receiving important investment from the state in its infrastructure,” said Leader Sykes. “These renovations are necessary to keep our campus up-to-date and ready to challenge, inspire and prepare the next generation of business and civic leaders for the jobs of the future.”
The project will replace deteriorating medium voltage cabling, associated equipment and to ensure stable and dependable electrical service on campus.
The state funding was approved at the state Controlling Board, a panel tasked with oversight of state spending.
