Substation Maintenance Technician- EXAM

The City of Columbus Department of Public Utilities is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Substation Maintenance Technician. To apply, you must first take the open competitive examination. The application window is currently open and candidates can submit an application online to the Civil Service Commission at http://www.columbus.gov/civilservice by Friday, January 31, 2020. The Substation Maintenance Technician will be responsible for testing, maintaining, and repairing transformers and installing and maintaining switches, regulators, and related electrical
power distribution equipment; performs related duties as required. To qualify you must have one (1) year of experience as a Power Line/Cable Worker Trainee or Lamp Servicer with the City of Columbus or comparable experience. Substitution(s): Successful completion of a formal classroom, vocational training program, or apprenticeship training program related to power distribution may substitute for six (6) months of the required experience. Also, possession of a valid, Class A commercial motor vehicle operator's license allowing operation of vehicles with air brakes. Salary range is $23.60- $40.84 hourly.
