Stand With OBDC this Giving Tuesday to Empower Black Businesses

Dear Esteemed Community and Business Leaders,

As the founder of the Ohio Business Development Center, I have witnessed firsthand the resilience and brilliance of Black entrepreneurs in our community. Today, Giving Tuesday, I am reaching out to you with a personal and urgent plea for support.

In 2022, the OBDC achieved remarkable success, touching the lives of many:

  • We guided 108 businesses through referrals and one-on-one consultations.
  • Our training events and workshops educated 283 eager minds looking to build and grow their businesses.
  • The Construction Academy empowered 40 attendees with the skills needed to excel in the competitive construction industry.

And in 2023, we are keeping the momentum going:

  • We have already trained 10 contractors as certified EPA Lead Renovators, a credential that opens doors and increases safety.
  • Our classes on Blueprint Reading, Project Estimating, and Project Scheduling have continued to equip contractors with critical industry knowledge.
  • The Certification 101 classes and Small Business Legal Aid Clinics have provided the foundational support for business stability and expansion.

Your donation today ensures that these vital services can continue to flourish. “Help us help you” is more than a motto—it is our shared mission to uplift each other in pursuit of success and excellence. Every donation, no matter the size, contributes to the strength and sustainability of our programs.

On this day of global generosity, I invite you to donate through our Giving Tuesday page at https://givebutter.com/obdc. Let us keep the beacon of opportunity burning bright for every Black business owner who dares to dream big.

Thank you for standing with us today. Your swift action speaks volumes and paves the way for a brighter, more inclusive future for all of us.

Warmest regards,

Ronda Watson Barber
Founder, Ohio Business Development Center
