The Law According to Moses: 2014

2014

By Ambrose Moses, III

Happy New Year!

This is that festive time when we re-group and focus upon our goals and objectives in the coming year.  We make New Year’s resolutions.

Here are a few of my public New Year’s resolutions.  (Yes, I, too, have my personal wealth, health, and love resolutions.  But, I can’t tell you everything because I don’t know you like that.)

  • Obtain funding and grants for Ohio Business Development Center (“OBDC”).  We have applied and expect to receive 501(c)(3) tax exemption soon.  Thank you, again, to those who supported our crowdfunding campaign to raise money for the filing fees.  We intend to give you what you want and need.  As with anything, it requires resources.  So, as we fundraise, remember to “Help us help you”.
  • Launch or help launch at least one crowdfunding campaign per month.  Crowdfunding is a game-changer.  The general public and the business community must both know about crowdfunding and participate in crowdfunding campaigns in order for there to be a widespread, positive impact.  I will continue to put it out there.  Spread the word, and most importantly, participate, donate, and invest.
  • Re-Establish the Small Business Legal Aid Program.  I have a vision for a Small Business Legal Aid Program.  Business owners want affordable and accessible legal counsel, advice, and representation.  We have made the program better and more accessible.
  • Produce Workshops and Webinars.  Help small business owners establish and grow their businesses by providing information and assistance to them each month through interesting workshops and webinars.  We have already scheduled sessions for January.  You can help by attending and spreading the word to others who may benefit from the programs.

2014 is destined to be a great year of progress for the small business community.

What are your New Year’s resolutions?
