There are three standard business certifications. Businesses can be certified based on race, economics or gender.
A minority business enterprise, also known as MBE. The business must be owned and controlled 51 percent by persons who are either Black, Hispanic, Asian or Native American.
A disadvantage business enterprise, a DBE, is a business who’s 51 percent owner has a personal network of $750,000 not counting the owner’s primary residence or investment in the company.
A woman or female owned enterprise, WBE or FBE, is a business who’s 51 percent owner is a woman.
