It’s Election Time: Who Represents You . . . Really?

We talk and complain every year about politicians not representing The People and that they are influenced or controlled by the money of rich folks and corporations. This is nothing new. The question is, what are You going to do about it?
Do they represent you or your interests? How have they proven that they represent you? Really, what have they done? What have they lost or sacrificed? What have they gotten in return? From whom did they receive it?
Are they so smooth with their words that they can “talk loud and say nothing”?
Have you noticed that some officials and representatives will make false or misleading statements and then repeat them over, and over, and over with a straight face? They do this because it actually works in persuading some people to vote a certain way. There are people who don’t do their homework. They don’t ask questions. They don’t research or fact check. But, they will go and vote.
Stop letting them get away with lying to you. Stop letting them mislead you and play on your emotions and fears. Much of what you read on the Internet is NOT TRUE. Do your homework. Ask questions. Research and fact check.
I know it sounds overly simplistic, but it is truly not very complicated. For You, the concerned, responsible citizen, the simple solution is to not vote for the politicians who do not truly represent you and your interests. Instead, vote for other candidates. If the right candidate is not on the ballot, then find the right candidate and get him or her on the ballot.
Does it take work? Yes, it does. Can it be done? Yes, it can.
But, it takes You.
