Donovan X. Ramsey named to BET’s and Black Twitter’s list of bests

Columbus native  Donovan X. Ramsey was recently named to two top lists.  Donovan is a multimedia journalist based in New York. He has written for MSNBC, Ebony, and TheGrio to name a few.   He earned his M.S. in magazine journalism from the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism and B.A. in psychology from Morehouse College.

Black Entertainment Television recently named him to  The Black and Lit List: People Under 30. He is also being honored as one the faces of Black Twitter.  Donovan uses his love of the written word to examine his perspectives on race & politics.

According to okayplayer.com, Mr. Ramsey was captivated by the written word from an early age. Taught by his mother and older sister, he would imagine himself as part of LeVar Burton‘s Reading Rainbow and saw limitless possibility after seeing Virginia Hamilton‘s The People Could Fly: American Black Folktales read on the same program.

“I raised my children to understand that the sky was their limit as long as they were willing to work for it. Donovan believed me,” said his proud mother Marjorie L Ramsey.
“I read about 100 news stories everyday and share many of them on Twitter; just because I think they’re worth reading,” he said “I’m a trained, professional journalist — with clips, receipts — who writes about Black issues [which] has some positive impact on my trustworthiness.”
