We are coming to the finish line

We are coming to the finish line

We are experiencing quite the election season.  The 2016 Presidential election campaign has been a roller coaster ride.  It has not been pretty.  It has been a hot mess.  It has produced racist and misogynist comments on a regular basis; violence at political rallies and xenophobia.   The only bright spots have the nomination of the first woman by a major political party and the inspirational speeches given by First Lady Michelle Obama.   From the over populated Republican debates (to which our Governor was a star), to Bernie rising to prominence with his progressive agenda and exciting young people to participate in the process, Hillary’s emails and Donald’s admission that he sexually assaults women, it’s been a ride. We have been through a lot.  Thank goodness the madness will soon be over.

Regardless of the all messes, blatant lies and crazy that we have been exposed to, it is important that the Black community get out and vote. There’s a lot at stake. As I have stated before, our votes must have power because there have been numerous efforts across the country, including in the Buckeye state, to prevent certain Americans from voting , particularly Black people.  Voting is our right as Americans.  Our votes matter!  We can’t sit this election out. If simply to honor those who fought for the right to vote. We owe it to the freedom fighters who gave up so much for us.  We are their legacy.

I am endorsing Hillary Clinton.  It’s an easy choice.  The other candidate has not earned the respect of the Black community.  His daily antics are childish and crazy.  His actions throughout the campaign season have demonstrated he is not qualified to be leader of the free world.

As Black women are the strongest most active voting bloc in the country.  In the last few elections Black women have voted in higher percentages than any other group. We will have the opportunity to exhibit our power and Black Girl Magic.  By continuing our overwhelming support of the Democratic ticket we will be able to show the racist birthers the true strength and power of Black women. We are not afraid to vote.  We will be able to show the world that racist misogynist views will NOT be tolerated in OUR country.  We must take this power and create action.  We must demand action and legislation to protect, educate and employ our children.  We must MAKE them recognize and acknowledge OUR power.  This  is not just a “women’s issue” they must begin to speak to BLACK WOMEN and our issues.  There is a price for our vote and loyalty, That price includes protecting and empowering our communities.

Early voting has started.  Election Day is November 8.  Make your voice heard.

Just my thoughts….
