Oh my goodness…A client called and asked for help with the OMSDC certification. According to their website,to be certified as an MBE with them:
Your business is at least 51% ethnic minority-owned. For the purposes of NMSDC’s program, a minority group member is an individual who is at least 25% Asian, Black, Hispanic, or Native American.

25% Twenty-five percent! What a joke. They are really diluting the MBE vendor pool. This is the ONLY MBE certification the INTEL project will be accepting. So are they really working with minority-owned businesses? Is this a true commitment to diversity and inclusion? How does one prove that they are at least 25 percent Black? What discrimination in business does someone face who is 75 percent something else? Black businesses are now you competing with people who are majority something else and are claiming minority status. This is CRAZY and totally unfair to the spirit of certification and the programs designed to help grow and develop real Black-owned businesses.
Why doesn’t the State of Ohio accept the OMSCD certification for MBE certification?
Who is looking out for Black-owned businesses?
Just my thoughts…rwb
