OBDC Announces September Training Classes and Virtual Legal Consultations for Small Businesses

The Ohio Business Development Center (OBDC) is excited to announce a series of training classes and virtual legal consultations designed to support small business owners in September. These sessions cover a range of essential topics, from legal compliance to blueprint reading, and are aimed at helping entrepreneurs navigate the complexities of running a business.

September Training Classes:

  1. SBLA Legal Power Hour – Countdown to Compliance: Your Guide to the Corporate Transparency Act & BOI Reports
    Date & Time: Thursday, September 5, 6:00 PM – 10:30 PM
    Location: Online via Zoom
    Description: This session provides critical insights into the Corporate Transparency Act (CTA) and Beneficial Ownership Information (BOI) Reports, helping businesses stay compliant with the latest regulations.
  2. Basic Blueprint Reading
    Date & Time: Monday, September 9, 6:00 PM – 7:30 PM
    Location: OBDC, 43205
    Description: Ideal for beginners, this class will teach attendees how to read and interpret blueprints, a fundamental skill in the construction industry.
  3. Certification 101
    Date & Time: Tuesday, September 10, 11:30 AM – 12:30 PM
    Location: Online
    Description: This session covers the basics of business certification, offering guidance on how to become a certified business and leverage it for growth.
  4. Walk-in Certification Assistance
    Date & Time: Tuesday, September 17, 11:30 AM – 3:30 PM

    Description: Business owners can drop by for personalized help with certification processes—no appointment needed.
  5. Submitting a Successful RFP
    Date & Time: Wednesday, September 18, 6:00 PM – 7:00 PM
    Location: Online
    Description: Learn the key strategies for submitting a winning Request for Proposal (RFP) to secure more contracts.
  6. Basic Blueprint Reading

    Description: A repeat of our popular blueprint reading class, providing attendees another chance to develop this essential skill.
  7. Walk-in Certification Assistance
    Date & Time: Tuesday, September 24, 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM

    Description: Another opportunity for business owners to get hands-on assistance with certification, no appointment necessary.
  8. Mastering Construction Estimating with James Jones
    Date & Time: Wednesday, September 25, 6:00 PM – 10:30 PM
    Location: 700 Bryden Road
    Description: Industry expert James Jones leads this in-depth class on construction estimating, offering practical tips and strategies for success.

Virtual Legal Consultations:

In addition to these classes, OBDC, in partnership with Small Business Legal Aid (SBLA), will be offering virtual one-on-one legal consultations throughout September. Business owners can receive personalized legal advice on a variety of topics, from LLC formation to compliance with new regulations.
