‘Meet Me at the Box’ seeks to energize voters leading up to Election Day 2014

State Senator Nina Turner’s campaign for Ohio Secretary of State announced the launch of an early vote turnout initiative called “Meet Me at the Box.” Designed to engage voters across the state, educate Ohioans about their early voting options, and register eligible Ohioans.
“Strong communities start at the ballot box—where every eligible Ohioan has the opportunity to make their voice heard,” said Senator Turner. “This election is critically important to the future of our state, and it is imperative that folks come out to vote this year.”
During the last gubernatorial election cycle in 2010, over 1 million ballots were cast early, with more than 180,000 of those cast in-person at early voting locations across the state. In all, absentee ballots cast in-person and by mail accounted for over a quarter of all votes cast during the 2010 election.
“Early voting is a vital component of the electoral landscape in Ohio,” said Turner. “Working Ohioans have a week less of early voting this cycle and don’t have the evening early vote hours they need, so the opportunities that are left are incredibly important.”
