Linda’s Corner:
Grow Your Business with Joint Ventures
By Linda Pringle Evans
Most entrepreneurs don’t have enough clients and consequently they aren’t making enough money. One of the fastest ways to grow your business is through joint ventures.
A joint venture is when 2 or more people or businesses come together for the purpose of cross-promotion. Each entity exposes the other entity to her audience, resulting in the joint venture partners gaining more potential clients.
Types of JV Partnerships:
- Guest Hosting. You invite another entrepreneur to speak to your group either virtually or in real life—or you’re the invited speaker. The host partner sets up the event and promotes you to their community.
- Host a Telesummit. This is similar to hosting an online seminar or conference. You choose a topic and then invite anywhere from 7 – 15 entrepreneurs who are experts on that topic. As the host you organize the telesummit and the speakers are your joint venture partners who promote the event to their lists. As the host you will receive all of the email addresses of people who want to have access to the expert interviews.
- Gift Giveaway. A group of businesses join together with each contributing a free gift to the combined communities. The gift could be anything from an e-book, an audio recording or a free session of some kind. When you are the host of the giveaway, as with a telesummit, when someone registers for any of these giveaways, you capture their email address and they become part of your community.
- Joint Event. You can team up with a complementary business to do a class or a workshop. The partners cross-promote each other, and you both get lots of targeted exposure.
Your assignment is to make a list of potential joint venture partners today.
