Congresswoman Beatty Celebrates 2021 Congressional Art Competition Winners

Winning piece will be displayed in the U.S. Capitol

Earlier this month, at a virtual community event hosted by U.S. Congresswoman Joyce Beatty (OH-03), the winner representing Ohio’s Third Congressional District for the 2021 Congressional Art Competition was revealed before friends and family on Zoom.

“I am excited to announce the 2021 Congressional Art Competition grand prize winner from Ohio’s Third Congressional District, and I look forward to seeing the winning piece hang among all the art from every state in the United States Capitol,” Beatty said. “I also want to congratulate the Competition’s second, third, Links, and Viewers’ Choice winners, as well as the many talented Central Ohio high school students who submitted artwork this year.” She added, “Finally, I want to recognize the dedicated teachers, parents, and judges who make the Congressional Art Competition an unbelievable success year in and year out.”

The 2021 Congressional Art Competition winners from Ohio’s Third Congressional District are:

  • 1st Place: Nysahna Keppler, Columbus Alternative High School, “Flower Girl”
  • 2nd Place: Natalia Sandoval Castro, Franklin Heights High School, “Bright Eyes”
  • 3rd Place: Claudio Estrada Martinez, Franklin Heights High School, “Fall into Yourself”
  • Viewers’ Choice Award (based on Facebook likes): Katie Kersell, Grove City High School, “Free as a Bird”
  • The Links, Inc., Columbus Chapter Winner: Shelley Taylor, Franklin Heights High School, “Just Out of Reach”
