Assistant Highway Design Engineer
Franklin County Engineer Cornell Robertson is seeking an Assistant Highway Design Engineer to assist with planning, supervising, coordinating, evaluating, and overseeing the functions of the highway design department. The pay range for the Assistant Highway Design Engineer position is currently $41.99 per hour to $49.55 per hour.

Here is Some of What You’ll Do:
- Review proposals;
- Reviews plans for compliance with specification and design criteria;
- Aids in routing and tracking plans to/from design consultants;
- Prepares cost estimates for construction projects;
- Maintains consultants schedules;
- Runs Design meetings with consultants;
- Assembles final design drawings, standard drawings, design notes and estimate for contract sales; • Reviews plans and assists in the assembling of bid packages, performs design checks for hydraulics, profiles grades, roadway geometry and other details;
- Assists in resolving bid issues and preparation of addenda;
- Assists the Highway Design Engineer in the supervision of departmental staff;
- Reviews and updates Franklin County Capital Improvement Project and Private Development standards. Coordinates with developers, reviews plans, and routes review plans regarding subdivisions in unincorporated areas of the county;
- Plans and attends public meetings for design projects;
- Communicates with the public concerning highway design projects;
- Represents Engineer’s Office at meetings with other agencies including Franklin County Technical Review Committee. Assists with Local Project Administration (LPA) of State and Federally funded design project;
- Coordinates and assists with the in-house design team on civil design plan production.
