Black children are important. Their education is important. Nelson Mandela said, “There can be no keener revelation of a society’s soul than the way in which it treats its children.”
Columbus City Schools is embarking on a new school term. Presently there are directorial openings in Safety/Security and Transportation. These are important positions. The folks charged with getting children to and from school. The folks responsible for creating a secure safe environment for learning. Who will be making the hiring decision for these roles? Operations within the district are a vital cog in the education scheme. We must demand that competent professionals are hired to foster an environment for learning.
- The children need to get to school on time on a regular basis
- The schools need to be safe and secure.
- The buildings need to be professionally managed and maintained.
If the same people are still responsible for the above tasks during 2022-2023 school term, how will issues get better? Black children’s education should not be impeded because of leadership incompetence in the Operations division.
Just my thoughts…rwb
