Meet Rita Fuller-Yates: The Inspiring Keynote Speaker for the 9th Annual OhioMBE Awards


We’re beyond excited to announce that Rita Fuller-Yates, a Columbus native, renowned author, historian, and media personality, will grace the 9th Annual OhioMBE Awards as the keynote speaker. Let’s delve into her remarkable journey and what makes her the perfect fit for this year’s event.

About Rita Fuller-Yates:

Rita is a Columbus, Ohio native and an alumnus of Columbus East High School and Ohio University, where she majored in History. She later earned her master’s degree from the Savannah College of Art and Design. Rita has been a serial entrepreneur, starting her first business in 2000 and launching her second venture in 2014.

Books and Media Presence:

She is the author of three impactful books:

  • “Life, Camera, Action! A Guide to Hosting and Entertainment” (2015)
  • “Columbus Black History – Images from Our Past, Volume I” (2022)
  • A children’s book, “Just a Little Girl from Long Street” (2022)

Rita is also a familiar face on local Columbus news channels, serving as a Lifestyle Expert on WSYX 6, Fox 28, and WBNS 10TV. She founded and produces “Columbus Black News” and hosts the digital program “History in da Streetz,” which focuses on African American history in Columbus.

Community Involvement:

She educates corporations on the value of local Black history and started city bus tours in June 2022, featuring Columbus’ historic African American communities. Rita sits on the trustees board of the Columbus Landmarks Foundation and the Columbus Historical Society.
