Commemorate & Agitate

By Ronda Barber

During  his comments during the March of Washington’s 50th anniversary, Rev. Joseph Lowery gave a call to action.   “We come to Washington to commemorate.  We are going home to agitate!”  Hopefully, you were rejuvenated by the legacy of the civil rights movement.  They made a change!  They made a difference.

So are you going to do your part to combat the challenges the country faces in its efforts to be a more perfect union?  Our votes and our dollars are power. Will you become engaged in the struggle to make sure all citizens get to exercise their right to vote without major restrictions?  Will you start a business?  Will you regularly support a Black owned business?  Will you mentor a youth and show them the promise of our great land?  Will you challenge our elected officials to do what is in the best interests of the voters not their political  careers?

We all benefit from the struggles regular everyday folks made during the fight for equity and the right to vote. We owe it to their dreams and legacy to step up and stand up!

High Five

In the last issue of OhioMBE, we reported that the Ohio Business Development Center had started a crowdfund to help raise funds to secure non-profit status.  The campaign is going very well.  We have met our goal. You can visit the campaign at http://bit.ly/15jdt5e.

Many thanks to Sylvester Ballard, Michael Chow, J. Larkins, Z. Moses & J. Janning, Carol Hector-Harris, Douglass White and two anonymous donors.  We appreciate your commitment to the development of small and minority owned businesses.

Just my thoughts…

P.S. Go Ohio Bobcats!
