Ohio is strongest when as many Ohioans as possible have an opportunity to share in our state’s growing economic strength. The same is true for the way state government secures the goods and services it needs to carry out its mission serving Ohioans. The harder state government works to get the best value for purchases, from the widest possible range of suppliers, the better it is for taxpayers and the better it is for Ohio.
However, as Governor Kasich stresses, “There is still more work to be done.”
To that end, you are invited to participate in the upcoming Resources to Grow Your Minority-Owned Business, a regional outreach event on Wednesday, Sept. 24, 2014, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event will be held at the King Arts Complex, located near downtown, at 867 Mt. Vernon Ave., Columbus, 43203.
This networking opportunity, which is sponsored by the State of Ohio, will connect you to state agency purchasing professionals looking to increase the business they conduct with certified Minority Business Enterprise (MBE) businesses. During this event, agency representatives will be present to let you know of their projected MBE set-aside expenditures for Fiscal Year 2015. Each agency present will have detailed information outlining upcoming contracting opportunities, including timelines and points of contact.
In addition to your access to procurement officials, free workshops will be held on the following topics:
– Available Financing Programs
– How to Use MBE Projection Plans and Work with Agency Contacts
– How to Prepare/Respond to a State Bid
In addition, an onsite computer lab will be available to begin completing applications for MBE and/or EDGE (Encouraging Diversity, Growth and Equity) certification, recertification and cross certification. You can also register with the Ohio Department of Administrative Services’ Office of Procurement Services’ eBid System.
For your convenience, online registration is available at das.ohio.gov/MBERSVP.
