Public Hearings Ahead For New Rover Natural Gas Pipeline

Public Hearings Ahead For New Rover Natural Gas Pipeline
OhioMBE – November 1, 2014

The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission will be holding a series of public hearings in the coming weeks, for input on the proposed Rover Pipeline Project. The Rover Pipeline Project will transport natural gas from the Marcellus and Utica Shale formation, including Ohio wells, to consumers in Ohio and Michigan. The pipeline will open new markets throughout the Great Lakes region, for Ohio gas.

The development of energy infrastructure provides many benefits to Ohioans. First and foremost, it will provide businesses and consumers across the state with reliable source of natural gas. In fact, sixty percent of the natural gas transmitted by the pipeline will stay in the region.

Developing the pipeline will also benefit the economy. The Rover Pipeline Project is approximately a 4.3 billion dollar investment, creating up to 10,000 new jobs along the planned construction route. The project will pump millions of dollars into the local communities through the supply chain for goods and services. For example more than 76 percent of the materials for the pipeline will be constructed in the United States, including Ohio manufacturing facilities. In addition to this, it will generate additional tax revenue.

The upcoming public hearings will provide a valuable opportunity for public input and to hear expert testimony on this important infrastructure project.
