NAACP totally disrespected Columbus Members

The NAACP had its regional conference in Columbus last week.  Under tight security, the national president Cornell Williams Brooks came to speak to members from across the Midwest.  Unfortunately, there has still been no communication with the folks who paid for membership in the Columbus branch.   Columbus members weren’t even notified of the regional meeting.

Really? How disrespectful to host a meeting in a city where there is no active chapter.  The state and regional officials should be ashamed of themselves.  They have not resolved the election  issue and are ignoring Columbus.  Calls and correspondences have been made to the national offices as well to no avail.  It appears the NAACP has stolen funds from members and not provided services.  The national office receives a portion of all membership dues.  The NAACP’s conduct is shameful.   What are members supposed to do?  Folks anticipated an election in November 2014.  It didn’t occur.  Is this how the NAACP conducts business? Ohio will hold its primary election next week.   How can the NAACP protest unfair election practices when they can’t even hold a branch election?

I called the national office and spoke with officials in the membership office.  I was assured that a letter would be forwarded to the Columbus members.  That was a month ago.  I haven’t received my letter or membership card.  I renewed my membership in September 2014.

Again what are due paying members to do?  Perhaps we should contact our state attorney general Mike DeWine and ask for assistance is recouping our monies.  I have heard that that’s a drastic measure and $30 dollars is a donation to the cause.  What cause? Columbus has some serious issues that an active NAACP should be addressing.  The mis-education of our children, gun violence, youth unemployment, economic development, etc.

The national office has started a campaign, Journey for Justice. What justice are they offering the due paying members of Columbus?

Just my thoughts….rwb
