Are you safe at work?

Domestic violence doesn’t stay at home when its victims go to work.  The effects are far-reaching and often manifest themselves in the workplace through employee absenteeism, loss of productivity and high healthcare costs. Seventy-four percent of employed victims are harassed on the job, and abusive partners often use company resources computers and email to carry out such harassment.

One in four women in the United States will find herself in an abusive relationship at some point in her life and the cost of domestic violence to the U.S. economy is more than $8.3 billion. This cost includes medical care, mental health services and lost productivity (e.g. time away from work). These statistics alone demonstrate the potential impact of domestic violence on the work environment.

Free customized training and consultation is available to equip small business owners, managers and supervisors with the ability to recognize the signs of domestic violence, respond appropriately and refer to community resources. We also consult with human resources professionals to help develop comprehensive policies using best practices models.
