HVAC Service Technician/Installer
The Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission (MORPC) currently has an opening for an HVAC Service Technician/Installer for its Energy & Air Quality department. This position requires an individual to service and install furnaces, air conditioners, water heaters and chimney liners. Some additional essential duties include repairing and/or replacing gas lines, electrical lines, venting materials and ductwork per work orders; perform visual inspections of heating and cooling units and gas cook stoves to determine safety and efficiency per standards and codes. Must complete all paperwork accurately as required for assigned jobs and provide positive, professional customer service to public and co-workers.
Working knowledge of gas-fired appliances and combustion theory is required. Individual must have working knowledge of installation of furnaces, air-conditioning, cookstoves, ductwork and venting materials. EPA certified (Type II or Universal) to handle refrigerants including R-410A. Working knowledge of other fuel types (oil and electric) and cooling systems a plus. Other requirements include: ability to communicate (oral and written) and work effectively with crew members, low-income customers and as part of a team. Should have a valid Ohio Driver’s license, good driving record and maintain liability coverage required by MORPC.
Applicant must have a High School diploma or GED equivalent plus 2-3 years’ experience in HVAC service and installation required. Trade school or certification may be substituted for required experience on a month to month basis. Previous experience working with government or utility funded weatherization programs preferred.
