Ohio State Rep. Alicia Reece Proposed Ballot Referendum and Federal Constitutional Amendment for Voting Rights

Proposal announced at National Action Network Convention

COLUMBUS, OH—State Representative Alicia Reece (D- Cincinnati), President of the Ohio Legislative Black Caucus, was a panelist at the National Action Network’s National Convention this week, with Rev. Al Sharpton. Rep. Reece was a panelist for the Protecting Our Vote During Midterm Elections segment.

Ohio State Representative Alicia Reece proposed statewide ballot referendums in states like Ohio across the country focused on Voting Rights in 2014 and federal constitutional amendment for voting rights while at the National Action Network Convention.

” It is time to push for more permanent voting rights measures like a federal constitutional amendment for voting rights in the long term and state wide ballot referendums in states like Ohio in 2014,” says Rep. Reece. ”  Voting rights should not be temporary measures.”

Rep. Reece plans to work with national organizations like the National Action Network to push this Voting Rights agenda.

Rep. Reece has gained national attention for her criticism of voter suppression and intimidation tactics in Ohio and her “Count the Votes” House Bill she has been pushing since 2011.
