Engineer I
The City of Columbus Department of Public Utilities is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Engineer 1 within the Division of Water’s (DOW’s) Technical Support Section (TSS). This full-time position will serve as the project manager for small to medium size planning, design, and construction projects related to reservoirs, dams, water treatment plants, groundwater wells, pump stations, and various support facilities. Prior experience with the design, construction, or operation of water supply / water treatment projects, and/or facility renovation design and construction projects (e.g., architectural/MEP design & construction), is preferred. Typical duties for this position include: serve as liaison with internal and external project stakeholders; develop request for proposals (RFPs) and complete TSS portions of the RFP process; work with consultants to develop project scope and fee information; maintain project management information system accounts and project files; review and approve invoices; confer with superiors, facility operations and maintenance staff, consultants, and contractors to complete capital improvement projects; review consultant work products to ensure completeness and adherence to department standards, policies and facility needs; and review construction work to ensure conformance to contract requirements. Additionally, this position will assist with various section management tasks such as capital improvement plan updates, developing SOPs and template documents, responding to outside requests for information, and updating guide specifications.
To be considered for this position, candidates must have a valid State of Ohio certificate as a registered Professional Engineer and a valid motor vehicle operator’s license. Salary range: $32.91-$49.36 per hour.
