Whoever advised the district to search Columbus City Schools students randomly should be immediately fired. Who in their right mind thought this was a good idea? Did they check with the legal department on the constitutionally of the random searches? Did they check with other urban school districts to see how they handle security and weapon issues? The students have committed no crimes, so why are they being treated as such? I fully understand that safety and security are vital to the educational scheme. Criminalizing Black children in any form is unacceptable. There needs to be a better way to secure the buildings from weapons and treat children with dignity and respect.
How long with the interim Superintendent and the elected board allow the continued mishaps in Operations to impact their careers? When will CCS begin a search for a new COO?
Just my thoughts…rwb
